YOU BET I'M THANKFUL

Last night around midnight, I was reading the new James Patterson book and there was a loud noise outside. Pretty unusual for my neighborhood so I went outside to investigate. The noise I heard was someones car hitting my truck which was parked out on the street.

Another driver saw the accident happen and had already stopped and called the police and ambulance to take care of the kid who was in pretty bad shape. The speed limit on Crofton Parkway is 25 mph, and he was estimated to be going over 60 mph when he hit my truck. No skid marks to indicate he hit the brakes at all.

He was alive but had to be cut out of his car with the jaws of life by the fire department. The air bag deployed and probably saved his life.

I'm not angry at all because cars and trucks can be replaced. It's just sheet metal and plastic. Humans can't be replaced. I'm thankful that, even though he was injured pretty badly, he will recover and be alright. He learned a hard and painful lesson.

My family has a lot to be thankful for this holiday. This is just one more item to add. Today I'll celebrate a peaceful Thanksgiving with my family and new grandson, and tomorrow I'll call the insurance company.

The police and fire department arrived within a matter of minutes, even though the accident happened around midnight. These men and women who do this for a living really are true hero's.

My truck, which was parked on the street, got pushed about 50 feet and up onto the curb.

He hit it so hard the tire came off. Obvious total.

This is his car. He's very lucky his air bag deployed. He's probably lucky that my truck was parked out on the street for him to hit because if he hit that tree head on things could have been considerably worse.

You have to get hit pretty hard to break the drive shaft off a vehicle.

No contest, its the home condition. I wrote a post about a month ago about why I recommend home inspectors and it's had quite a few spirited comments. What a shocker, not all of them agreed with me. Frankly, I'm kind of surprised that a month… more
